I live on a small lake (more of a wet lands but open water), and near many big lakes. (Minnesota USA)
The shore is about 30 feet from the back of my house, and my deck justs out about 24 feet so you are very close to the water.
I love it!

Like I say, the lake (wetland actually) that I am directly on isn't very big, but I like it OK.

Yep and you know what is best in lakes fishes who like fishing?, for example in summer on weekend I wake up in 3-4 am I took my little boat and with friends/family sail on nice water and was great fun when I fishing some roach, bream, perch, tench, eel, catfish, pike or carp I think this fish mainly in my lake. and when was break in fishing(that bitches didn't want be catch, I took my basket with food and I ate this were nice days
