Need help with capacitors

Post by LeeStricklin »

So I just found out that my X Meridian 7.1 is missing capacitors and that they had been missing since I bought it (which is why I can't use the mic jack on it). Is there anyone on here that can identify the ones I've highlighted or at least link me to some that would at least work as replacements?

Pic taken of my wife's X Meridian for reference

Finally found some. Sadly couldn't find them in the original green color, but I did manage to find some on par with the Japanese ones used on this card.

Was late to see this. Interested to know what you find for alternative and what is the status so far?

Went the el cheapo Chinese copycat capacitors from Ebay route. They're rated the same, are aluminum, and are the same size, they're just not the kick ass shiny green color (pic really doesn't do it justice) that the stock ones are. Probably will be a month by the time I get them though lol Am still a bit bummed that I couldn't find the stock ones though, because this is very much a sought after sound card that's been out of production for almost a decade now. Also this is actually a pretty simple repair to pull off, anyone with some basic soldering skills and cheap materials (solder is like $2, iron like $5, caps were less than $3 for a minimum order of 40).

Wouldn't the Chinese quality have a lesser grade than some other?

Only some of the time. You'd be surprised how high quality some of their stuff is, especially in audio equipment.
