On Oct 01 2026 at 10:16:59 PM PT our host forced the pre-release update of ut99 469f-RC5 on all our servers (Including RB and SFL). All the servers that had XC_Engine crashed and went down. To fix the issue we removed XC_Engine from all the servers as a workaround to bring the servers back online. Only the MH (NW3) server was the only one the was still down as this server relies heavily on this native mod.
Our host, after a long and tedious conversation, agreed to rollback to 469e - release version.
The only server with the rollback was the MH server, all other servers are still on 469f-RC5. So if you find any issues report back here or on discord.
The drawback about removing XC_Engine is that some functionality is lost, some extensions (server side) are lost and fixes as well. But this gives us a really good opportunity to test the 469f version.
@=(V)=RocketJedi If any issue happen you can trigger a 'repair operation' on your control panel (I dont have access to this special control panel) to re apply 469e. Then update the ut.ini to include XC_Engine. Backup ini files exist on every server for when this case happens.
They are named 'UnrealTournament_BAK_02.10.26.ini'

Re: Forced update by host (469F-RC5)
Thanks for this info Mar. I was about to post about the release of 469f RC5 myself. I was looking for some additional information regarding compatibility. Apparently, 469f RC5 is not quite ready yet.
Thank you Mar!
Thank you Mar!

Re: Forced update by host (469F-RC5)
Yeah, from client side looks like it has a lot of issues. Although it has better performance (fps) I think it is better to wait for RC6 at-least.
I see a lot of issues being created by people (https://github.com/OldUnreal/UnrealTour ... hes/issues)
From server side, well we will see. We will continue the test in our servers.

Re: Forced update by host (469F-RC5)
Why are they force updating versions and we dont get to pick? I thought we rented our own server and decided what was on it?
Either scenario sounds ridiculous. Unless there's big security concerns.
Thank you Mar

Re: Forced update by host (469F-RC5)
"Instead of having a variety of different patchlevels running for managed games, we have a policy of keeping all games up-to-date." Is what they said. Yeah doesn't make sense, they just needed to make it optional. Forcing update is never good, worse was that they didn't even announced it.=(V)=BloodyRabbit wrote: Fri Oct 02, 2026 8:16 pm Why are they force updating versions and we dont get to pick? At the end they said that for the next update it would not be like that.
"Please accept my apologies for the trouble here. It is likely that we'll hold off on auto-applying the next update to customers."
Lets hope is true.
We rent a managed server so we dont have root access and they take care of everything (maintenance side).

? The issue was with our host suddenly changing versions.=(V)=~Jonesy~ wrote: Wed Oct 07, 2026 12:20 pm Mar, have you reached out to the OldUnreal Team about it ?

Re: Forced update by host (469F-RC5)
I understand, but we should be giving the OldUnreal team feedback to let them know. I am also seeing a lot of faults and errors with different servers after applying their latest update.
Just a suggestion.
Help them to help us ! :)

This is a good error page from them to look at :

OMG this is the second time they did this. I told them last time that these are RC versions and should not be auto patched.. I guess the didnt pass the memo FFS! Glad its fixed though.
