At my wife's family's house in New Jersey, their internet is very shitty. It's weird cause I will have great connection at some points, then at other points ill be in the 1000's, basically unplayable when im on the server.

Found out it's the lowest package offered by verizon 1 mbps to 3 mbps, that might be my problem lol

LoL. Yeah, it's likely a bottleneck when someone or something else is on the network. I had the same issue at my Ex's place.

The easiest solution would be to upgrade the connection

or

1 Tell them to quit looking at porn!
2 Use your phones WiFi,
3 See if the router has a throttling/bandwidh allocation setting and adjust it (many home routers don't so I doubt this will be an option)
4 If the only other device(s) on the network are computers you can download and install something for each one like NetBalancer (free trial until you are forced to pay for it) http://alternativeto.net/software/netbalancer/ or http://diggfreeware.com/five-best-bandw ... -software/ or search for bandwidth limiter / bandwidth throttle . This will throttle their connection to your criteria (limiting how much data they can use)

The bad side effects of throttling (options 3 and 4) with such a small connection is they may not be able to stream movies while the throttling is in place.

or lastly deal with it :'( . It's likely you wont be able to throttle the connections or tell them to get off the internet. So really using your phones WiFi or having them upgrade are the best options. Your phone WiFi may produce a higher than usual ping. So the only sure safe bet is upgrading the connection.

That is DSL most likely. yeah if anyone does anything internet related while you game your connection will go to hell. I bet if you were gaming and someone opened up facebook or IG over the wifi your ping will spike LOL
